Even though the player base is very low now, there are some amazing creations built inside it, and it offers a great short campaign (Hopefully, Sony will make a PS5 version or upgrade and market it more so the player base gets bigger). If you are a fan of the Little Big Planet games, I would definitely recommend you to check out Dreams by Media Molecule. Hopefully, Sony does something and puts them back on for purchase so people can buy them digitally on the PlayStation 3. Little Big Planet 1 and 2 are some of the best platformers I have ever played. Media Molecule or Sony has not commented on this situation as of now, but we will keep you updated as soon as they post something about it. The official Little Big Planet website LBP.me is down as well.
This is very weird considering that Sony has not removed PlayStation 3 Store Support from the console itself. They do not show up for Purchase on Consoles either That’s not the point, though, since you cannot buy any of the PS3 games from the web. There’s still a store page, but you cannot buy them anymore. Now they are not up for purchase anymore. Sony allowed the practice until a few years ago, so it’s interesting that it’s back.Sony has delisted Little Big Planet 1 and 2 from PlayStation Store recently. We’re not lawyers, but we believe digital game codes can’t be bought from other retailers, preventing price competition. The press release states that “1.3 million console video game users” and “127 video game development studios” would be affected by Sony’s anti-competitive practices. The RCC is serious, too, having inspected Sony’s European headquarters to find out what happened.
These practices discourage Romanian studios from making PlayStation-compatible games.
“These practices would have reduced the purchasing options for PlayStation-compatible video games, leading to higher prices for video games on this type of console,” the RCC’s press release (in Romanian) states on ResetEra. How exactly? The RCC says Sony sells video games exclusively through the PlayStation Store and blocks competing distributors from accessing activation codes. The Romanian Competition Council is investigating Sony for abusing its console gaming market dominance.
